Mayor's Message

Mayor’s Message-

Early in the morning on April 13, 2022, a devastating fire consumed the home of long time Huntsville residents Dave and Ruth Jenkins. Sadly, this was the second time for the Jenkins’ as they also lost their home to fire some 16 years ago.

Our great residents always step up in time of need. To assist with immediate expenses following the devastating loss, a GoFundMe account and Charitable donation accounts were immediately setup. To date, more than $14,000 has been raised. Many of our residents also helped financially via direct donations.

Donations are still being accepted at:

America First Charitable account #9123548

Thanks for stepping up to help our friends and neighbors in a time of need.

Town Clean Up:

Thanks to everyone who participated in the town clean up. Once again, we can always count on our great residents to step up and help out to help beautify our town.

Huntsville Grand Prix:

The streets of Huntsville will turn into a mini Monaco as we welcome the 3rd Annual Huntsville Grand Prix Cyclecart event on May 13-14.

Memorial Day Celebration:

Once again, American Legion Post 129 will be holding military honors at the Huntsville Cemetery

May 30, 2022 @ 12:00 pm

Be sure to arrive early, as we share our entrance with many beach goers who will be enjoying cemetery point.

New Town Hall:

As mentioned last month, our great town recently began a new chapter as we closed on the sale of the town hall building. We have moved out of the building and welcome our new business owners, Imagine Music, to town. Imagine Music is expanding their Ogden location to Huntsville and will provide voice and musical instrument instruction.

Initial design of the new town hall and community center are underway, and we will be hosting public workshops and open houses to solicit input from our residents on design features in the near future. Please make sure you are on our email list to receive timely updates.

We estimate design and construction to take about two years. In the mean time, our town offices have been relocated to the former post office building across from the Huntsville Mercantile, located at 7381 E 200 S. There is a water payment drop box on the front of the building. Our town meetings will be held at the Ogden Valley Branch library. Since the library closes at 9 pm, we have revised our meeting schedule with most meetings starting earlier. Please check our website for updated times.

We also have a conference room inside the town maintenance shops that will be utilized when necessary.

Our next two years will be a time of transition, but together with our great staff and residents, we will make it work.

That’s all for now. Happy spring.

Richard Sorensen, Mayor
