CERT Training Available
Huntsville Town Residents,
We have been updating our Civilian Emergency Response Team (CERT) program here in Huntsville. Wendy McKay is the CERT representative on the town council. She recently sent out an email with the 12 neighborhood blocks. You can click on the attachment to see which block you are in and who your block captains are. We are in the final stages of getting the new block kits completed. Gail Ahlstrom has done a lot of work on this.
We are now getting our block captains trained as far as we can with the current COVID restrictions. Some of our captains are already CERT trained. The current training is partially online and "in class/hands on" training is accomplished after completing the online portion. We don't know yet when we will be able to complete the "in person" class portion of the training. The online portion of the training can be done now at no costs, but the "hands on" portion is $35.
We would like to invite any residents of Huntsville to join in the CERT training. The "online" portion takes about 16 hours and the "in person/hands on" portion takes about 20 hours. It is excellent training and the more CERT trained residents we have, the more prepared we will be to handle emergencies here in town. As soon as we are able to do the "in class/hands on" portion of the training, we will schedule the training for our block captains and any residents who have completed the "on line" portion.
